Justin Trudeau is the eldest son of Pierre Trudeau, Canada’s 15th Prime Minister. He was born December 25, 1971 in Ottawa, Ontario. Trudeau grew up with two younger brothers, Alexandre and Michel. When he was only six years old, his parents Pierre and Margaret Trudeau separated. A half sister, Sarah Coyne, was later brought into his life.
Trudeau has a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature from McGill University and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia. He later became a social studies and French teacher at West Point Grey Academy and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in Vancouver, British Columbia.
On May 28, 2005, Trudeau married Sophie Gregoire, a former model and Quebec television host. They later had two children, one daughter, Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau, and one son, Xavier James Trudeau.
Trudeau has served two terms as the MP for Papineau, Quebec. He announced in early October, 2012 that he would be running for the federal Liberal leadership. The Liberal leadership election will be held April, 2013.
