BELLEVILLE – This weekend promises Halloween fun for the Belleville community.
A Halloween howl dance and silent auction, a haunted walk and haunted wagon rides are all taking place this Friday and Saturday.
The dance will be at the Gerry Masterson Community Centre. It is a fundraiser run by the Belleville Disaster Relief Committee in support of the victims of the Thurlow flood back in 2014. There will be games for kids from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., a dance from 7 p.m. until midnight, a silent auction and a cash bar. A local country band called the Land O’Lakes Cruisers will be performing live music. The event will cost $20 per person at the door.
The Shadowicc Ghost Walk will be back in Belleville this Friday starting at 7 p.m. in front of City Hall on Front Street. Tickets are $10 and can be bought from tour guide Jonathan Boyd before the walk. This year, the event will feature a new route and a Halloween treat. Participants will learn about the origins of Halloween, the jack-o’-lantern and Belleville’s haunted history. It will take approximately an hour and a half to two hours, depending on the size of the group. Anyone over 11 years old is welcome. After seven years, this will be the final Shadowicc Ghost Walk held in Belleville.
Campbell’s Orchards is trying something new this year to embrace the Halloween spirit. Families can participate in the haunted wagon rides going on this Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. The rides are $8 per person or $30 for a family of four ($7 per additional person). During the ride, people will be able to pick their pumpkins in the dark. Haunted wagon rides will also go on next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31.
