Cobourg Police to crack down on drivers who fail to stop
By Molly Little and Angus Argyle
BELLEVILLE – The Cobourg Police will be enforcing road rules after receiving complaints about drivers not stopping at stop signs.
Specifically, people are failing to stop at the stop signs along George Street in Cobourg, according to a press release from the police force on Thursday.
The police became aware of the problem because of complaints from residents, and followed up by observing the area for themselves, the press release said.
As a result, officers will be enforcing the rules over the next month. According to the statement, the police are anticipating that increased awareness of the problem will decrease the concern over road safety.
A 2015 to 2017 Cobourg Police Service Strategic Business Plan is currently in place to keep the roads safe.
