Festival Players welcomes Amelia: The Girl Who Wants to Fly
By Steph Crosier
The Festival Players of Prince Edward County is excited to once again welcome back the play Amelia: The Girl Who Wants to Fly by John Gray.
Well-received last year, the touring show will be at the theatre for 10 days only. The play is a musical biography of the life of famous pilot Amelia Earhart.
Earhart was the first female pilot to receive the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross and to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. While trying to fly around the world she almost made it, only to disappear off the island of Howland in 1937. She was pronounced dead in 1939.
Starring in the play is Ottawa actress Eliza-Jaen Scott as Amelia and Karin Randoja as her sister Midge. Both were in the play last summer. Joining the duo is Steven Gallagher as Amelia’s husband and public promoter.
Opening night is June 29, 2011 at 8 p.m. at Fields on West Lake. To reserve tickets call the theatre or 613-399-5688.
