BELLEVILLE – A vehicle came close to injuring a cyclist Sunday on Prince Edward County Road 12.
The cyclist reported the incident to Prince Edward OPP at about 6 p.m. Sunday, informing them that he had been grazed by the vehicle’s side mirror. Police say the cyclist was not hurt in the incident.
While they were dealing with the incident, the officers were dispatched to a call about a disturbance at a home on County Road 12. They determined that that there had been a family dispute, and that one of those involved, who had just returned home, was the driver of the vehicle that came into contact with the bike.
A 30-year-old Hallowell man was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
The man is to appear in Picton court Oct. 18.
