BELLEVILLE – A Quinte West man is facing several charges involving alleged child pornography.
According to Belleville police, an investigation started in early September in response to allegations of a young man luring a person under the age of 16. Last Wednesday, members of the police department’s criminal investigations and tech crimes unit executed a search warrant at a home in the east end of Quinte West.
A 26-year-old man was charged with possession of child pornography, making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16 years of age and luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunications.
The man was released from custody on condition that he not be alone with anyone under the age of 18, not possess or have access to a device that has Internet access, and not be in a park, school, daycare, ice rink, pool or any other public recreation area or facility.
He is to appear in court in Belleville Oct. 26.
Belleville police are asking anyone who has information that could help the investigation to contact Det.-Sgt. Ian Jarvis at 613-966-0882, extension 2312, or Quinte Crime Stoppers.
