BELLEVILLE – A special performance by the senior drama class of Prince Edward Collegiate Institute will be part of the Three Oaks event for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on Wednesday.
The students will be performing “Pink or Blue?”, a collective creation by the students exploring gender stereotypes and pervasive misogyny in our society. As well there will be several presentations done by other organizations serving abused women in the Quinte Region.
It will take place at the CORE Arts and Cultural Center at 223 Pinnacle St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The date for this day of remembrance was chosen by the federal government in 1991, as it is the anniversary of the deaths of 14 women killed in Canada’s worst mass shooting, the École Polytechnique massacre in 1989 where a fellow student singled them out and murdered them. All flags on all federal buildings will be at half mast.
