Stirling marathoner raising money for Hospice Quinte
By Renée Rodgers
A Stirling man plans to run a marathon across the Quinte area this September to raise money and awareness for Hospice Quinte.
Jason LeSage informed Belleville city council of his plan at their council meeting August 8.
LeSage plans to begin his 42-kilometre run at the Stirling Recreation Centre September 4 at 1 p.m. His route will take him through Frankford, Batawa, Trenton, and along Highway 2 to Belleville, where he will finish on South Front Street around 6 p.m.
LeSage’s younger half-brother, Taylor Schulz, was enrolled in the Hospice Quinte Rainbows program two years ago after losing his father unexpectedly. Schultz was given bereavement counseling through the program and attended support group meetings with other children who had experienced a similar loss.
“This program helped Taylor out tremendously as he continues to get better and stronger as a young man,” Lesage told council.
