Burlington architects to design Belleville fire headquarters

Belleville’s new fire headquarters and emergency operations centre will be designed by the same firm that devised a similar centre for the City of Ajax.
Belleville city council announced during its August 8 meeting they would award Karp Namisniak Yamamoto Architects Inc. the contract of designing the new building.
The Burlington firm, which has experience in design and construction of fire and emergency facilities, will be paid approximately $317,000 to complete the project. The firm was chosen out of 12 companies that responded to the city’s request for a service proposal.
Rhéaume Chaput, director of fire and emergency services at the Belleville Fire Department, said the firm has a reputation of doing quality work.
“It is certainly my belief (Karp) is the best bang for our buck,” he said.
The new, $5.5-million headquarters will be located on Lahr Drive in Belleville, on approximately five acres of land.
