Second annual 48-hour film festival underway at Loyalist College

Fresh-faced cinematographers are vying for first place at Loyalist College’s second annual 48 Hour Film Festival.
The teams have 48 hours to create, shoot, edit and upload their videos to be accepted in the competition. The teams also have to incorporate a colour, phrase and object that have to be featured in the films. Festival rules stated on the website say any form of video shot on any device can be included in the films.
Three Loyalist College faculty members will judge the films at the screening held in the Shark Tank Pub, September 28. The films boast a lot of comedic content with Kafkaesque situations and a bounty of ladle-related humour. The popularity of the videos amongst the public is one factor in the selection of a festival winner.
Out of the 18 videos currently on YouTube, the most popular video is “The Book Report”. The comedy centers around a group of friends who procrastinate on writing a book report that eventually takes 10 minutes to write.
“Of course you never know how the public will react to your work until they see it. We were all a little surprised when we saw how well it was received,” said, Jacob Côté, who created the film along with Adam Radziwinowski, Tabatha Horst, Ryan Harding and Jonathan McFaul.
