Retired RCAF sergeant found guilty on one charge
BELLVILLE – A court martial on Tuesday against retired sergeant Raymond Euper ended with him pleading guilty to a single charge of ill treatment of a subordinate.
Military Judge Commander Sandra Sukstorf ordered a reduction of rank for Euper from sergeant to corporal as well as a fine of $1,500.
The original charges against Euper included sexual assault, assault, ill treatment of a subordinate, and conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline but were reduced to the single final charge.
In an email, Capt. Julie Brunet told QNet News that original charges resulted from an incident that took place in June of 2016 at Camp Eureka, Nunavut. In the email, Capt. Brunet quotes from a report that says Euper put his hands on the upper body of a female subordinate.
The charges against Euper were laid last May when he was serving at CFB Trenton by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service. Euper retired this past February.
He was born in Burnaby, B.C., but was living in Cold Lake, Alta., before being stationed at CFB Trenton.
