Campbellford man charged with 11 criminal offences
PORT HOPE – A Campbellford man is in custody today after an unexpected run in with the Port Hope police services on Tuesday afternoon.
A little bit after noon, police say they were investigating an unrelated public disturbance call between a man and a woman at the Comfort Inn. The officers intervened and a man fled, according to the Port Hope police services.
The man fled to his hotel room where he escaped out the window. There was a short chase and a struggle before the man was caught, according to police.
He had money and what police believe to be crystal methamphetamine in his pockets. They also found out he had warrants in the Waterloo area, police say.
Police say they also found more drugs and a shotgun modified to have a shorter barrel in his hotel room.
The man is charged with weapon offences and controlled drugs and substances act offences. He faces a total of 11 criminal charges against him.
He is currently in custody until a show cause hearing.
