Belleville’s nurse practitioner-led clinic to expand
By Sarah Law
BELLEVILLE – Belleville’s nurse practitioner-led clinic celebrated its grand re-opening in its new location on Wednesday afternoon.
The clinic first opened its doors at 231 Front St. in August 2010. It was funded by the Ontario Liberal government, according to its website.
Its new location is 15 Victoria Ave., Unit 2R.
Shaune Bernier, the finance and office assistant at the clinic, told QNet News that the move has provided more space for the clinic’s operations. The same services are being offered as before, Bernier explained, including several programs that offer primary care through a holistic approach.
However, the clinic hopes to expand its services now that it has more room for patients and staff, she says.
When it began, the clinic served 500 patients. It now serves over 2,600 people in the area, though it is currently not accepting new patients.
The primary care team consists of a clinical director, an administrative lead, four nurse practitioners, two registered nurses, one registered practical nurse and a pharmacist, social worker, dietician and chiropractor. There are also two physicians who provide registered patients with medical services that cannot be offered by the nurse practitioners, according to the clinic’s website.
