BELLEVILLE – Five players from the Trenton Golden Hawks have been chosen to compete in the eighth annual Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens this month.
The selected players from the Golden Hawks are defencemen Mason Hardy, Samuel Duschene and Michael Mannara and forwards Griffen Fox and the newly acquired Dalton Bancroft, who was traded from the Wellington Dukes. The tournament will run from Monday to Wednesday next week.
This year there will be 12 teams in the tournament, the most this event has ever had. The players come from five leagues, including four teams in the Ontario Junior Hockey League and two each from the Maritime Hockey League, Northern Junior Hockey League, Quebec Junior Hockey League and Central Canada Hockey League.
The unique tournament format consists of two 20-minute halves in a round-robin.
