Fire destroys Brighton home
BRIGHTON – Fire destroyed a house in Brighton around 8 p.m. Monday.
At the scene on Ontario Street Tuesday afternoon a pile of rubble could be seen where the house once stood.
The remains of the house were still smouldering as firefighters arrived back at the scene around 3 p.m. Firefighters watered down the house to prevent any spread of fire. A restoration company had sealed off the area with yellow tape.
Several neighbours and passersby were at the scene witnessing as smoke billowed from the ruins of the house.
“I heard sirens around 8 p.m.,” said Duncan Campbell, a neighbour. “And then everybody got out safe but the house was demolished.”
The family is currently at a house two doors down from the fire where the brother of the family’s father lives.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
QNet News is on the scene.
