Man charged with sexual assault in Brighton
BELLEVILLE – A 47-year old man has been charged with sexual assault in Brighton, according to a news release from the Northumberland OPP.
Police say that on Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m. they received a call from a residence in southeast of Brighton reporting a sexual assault.
The police said that the investigation revealed that an unknown man entered the house and sexually assaulted the female resident who was home alone with her young child.
Later the suspect, a Brighton resident, was arrested. He was charged with sexual assault, break into the house to commit a crime, and unlawfully entering the house, said police.
The accused will appear in court in Cobourg Wednesday.
No injuries were reported by the female victim as the result of the incident.
