Nine separate stunt driving incidents on Highway 401
NAPANEE – ‘Tis the season to be cautious on the road because the OPP is being strict on road safety.
Nine vehicles were seized in separate incidents last weekend on Highway 401 after drivers exceeded the limit by over 50 kilometres per hour. Each driver was issued a seven day license suspension, and the cars have been impounded for a week. All drivers were separate cases.
“I want to remind drivers that speed decreases reaction time and increases the severity of collisions. Travelling at speeds 50 km/h over the speed limit is stunt driving and is taken very seriously by the OPP. Slow down and arrive alive!” Napanee OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Scott Semple said in a news release.
The drivers are to appear in Napanee court at a later date.
