Loyalist College smoking ban takes effect
BELLEVILLE – The new year is proving unfriendly to smokers on campus at Loyalist College.
On Jan. 1, Loyalist College officially implemented a blanket ban on the use of all smoking products on campus, including but not limited to tobacco, vaping products and cannabis. The ban affects both Loyalist’s main campus and its satellite locations in Bancroft and Port Hope. While the ban was originally meant to take effect in May, the date was moved ahead in response to the legalization of marijuana across Canada on Oct. 17.
QNet News is looking into how the college is enforcing the policy and how it affects students and staff.
More to come.
