Change of cabinet may affect local veterans
BELLEVILLE – Canada has a new minister of veterans affairs as a result of Monday’s federal cabinet shuffle.
After being switched from her position of minister of justice, Jodi Wilson-Raybould has taken over the veterans affairs from Seamus O’Regan.
With O’Regan as minister since the Liberals were elected in 2015, the ministry has created an education and training benefit to help veterans find new careers or further their education, as well as improved services for post-traumatic stress disorder, and brought back the controversial pension-for-life plan – a pension plan given to veterans by the government that is supposed to be enough for them to live on, but many veterans say isn’t enough.
QNet News has reached out to local veterans to see what they hope that Wilson-Raybould will bring to the position.
More to come.
