Black ice causes accidents in Napanee and Northumberland County

BELLEVILLE – A tractor-trailer caught fire Tuesday afternoon on Highway 401 westbound approaching Marysville Road in Napanee and caused lane closures for several hours.

The accident was reported around 3:30 p.m. by the OPP. The left lane at Deseronto Road was reopened around 7 p.m. and all lanes were reopened by 9:40 p.m.
Freezing rain caused poor road conditions across the region.
There were also reports of a four-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound near the Grafton exit around 7:40 p.m.

Later on, there were reports of a vehicle in a ditch in Grafton on Highway 401.
