Loyalist student government members offer ideas to improve student success

BELLEVILLE – Idea boxes and rental laptops are two initiatives proposed by Loyalist student government members to help students have a better college experience.
During Thursday’s student government meeting, Kaylea Saint, the residence leader, suggested putting idea boxes around the college for students to anonymously submit suggestions for events and initiatives that student government could lead. She said this would help students who are hesitant to approach student government leaders in person to express their thoughts.
Jacinta Obasohan, the board of governors student leader, proposed a program for students who do not have access to a laptop at home to rent laptops from the college overnight. She said several students told her they do not have their own computers and struggle to complete assignments when not on campus.
The executive director of student life and leadership, Fred Pollitt, said he would discuss the idea with library staff.
