Cineplex to air ads before movies to encourage people to vote

BELLEVILLE – A democracy advocacy group has started its 2019 election awareness campaign encouraging Canadians to get out and vote.
Voteparty.ca reached 3.5 million Canadians with the help of businesses and celebrities in its 2015 campaign.
This year, it’s partnering with Cineplex Entertainment for the first time.
Cineplex will be airing ads encouraging participation in the election during the trailers of every movie in all 162 of its theatres across the country. The ad will feature celebrities including Rick Mercer.
The ads will be similar to the one VoteParty.ca did for the 2018 Ontario provincial election.
Cineplex also plans to stream the debates live in all its theatres with free admission.
Voteparty.ca is also expected to announce partnerships with more companies and celebrities in the coming weeks.
