BELLEVILLE – Online reporting is the safest way to report minor crimes, according to the OPP.
The OPP says that an increased use of online reporting will allow frontline officers to focus efforts on urgent calls and crime prevention.
There were over two million non-emergency 911 calls last year, half of those calls were not responded to.
Police say the following non-emergency situations should be reported online:
- Theft under $5,000;
- Mischief /damage to property under $5000;
- Mischief /damage to vehicle under $5000;
- Theft from vehicle;
- Lost / missing property under $5000;
- Stolen license plates; and
- Driving complaints (after the occurrence)
