Glanmore by Gaslight tours start this week
BELLEVILLE – A historic house in Belleville is taking visitors back to a 19th-century Christmas in a special tour.
Starting Wednesday at 7 p.m., Glanmore National Historic Site will be hosting guided tours through the freshly decorated house by gaslight.
Glanmore was built in 1882-83 for a wealthy banker and his wife, and was opened as a museum in 1973 by the City of Belleville.
After Wednesday there will be two other tours: Tuesday, Dec. 10, and Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 7 to 8:30 pm.
Traditional holiday refreshments will be served after the tour.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. The tours are not recommended for children under five, according to Glanmore’s website. Tickets are available for purchase in person or online. Calling in advance is best because tickets tend to sell out fast, the website says.
