CFB Trenton involved with military response to Newfoundland snowstorm
By Thomas Goyer
BELLEVILLE – A C-130J Hercules left the Trenton Armed Forces Base Sunday to assist with the Newfoundland snow storm relief.
The plane had 15 personnel on board, and travelled first to CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, to pick up personnel and equipment, before eventually heading to St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Newfoundland was hit over the weekend with a massive record-breaking winter storm that brought an average of 76-centimetres of snow across the province.
Soldiers are being brought in to assist the province in repairing its damaged power grids and to help clear snow.
The plane will remain in St. John’s until the crisis is over.
