BELLEVILLE – The second-place Wellington Dukes dispatched the Lindsay Muskies, who sit at the bottom of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, with two lop-sided meetings over the weekend.
The Dukes beat the Muskies 7-0 in Lindsay Friday and 5-2 at home Sunday.
The victories pulled them within three wins of tying division leaders and Bay of Quinte rivals the Trenton Golden Hawks.
Friday night in Lindsay the Dukes steamrolled Lindsay as goaltender Matt Keeley picked up the shutout. Sunday Night, back in Wellington, the Muskies jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead before the Dukes stormed back with five unanswered goals in the second and third periods.
The Dukes have five games at hand over the division-leading Golden Hawks currently and are back in action Thursday at home against Aurora.
