Highway 401 traffic stop leads to impaired and other charges
BELLEVILLE – A driver is facing a slew of charges after OPP officers spotted what police are calling dangerous driving behaviour while they were doing a traffic stop on Highway 401.
The Lennox and Addington OPP officers were doing the traffic stop on the 401 eastbound near Odessa Monday around 11 p.m. when the vehicle went past. They stopped it and ended up arresting the 53-year-old driver from Vars, Ont. The driver was charged with the following offences:
- Impaired driving
- Driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit
- Driving without proper headlights
- Failure to move into another lane for an emergency vehicle
- Driving with an open container of liquor
- Driving with alcohol readily available.
The driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded for seven days. A court date has been set for Feb. 18 in Napanee.
