OPP officer arrested on sexual-assault charges
BELLEVILLE – An OPP officer from the East Region is facing charges in relation to a domestic assault.
The OPP Professional Standard Bureau commenced an investigation in October after receiving a complaint. As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old man is charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts related to choking the victim.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. He was also suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario.
The investigation by the OPP Professional Standard Bureau is continuing.
The identity of the man is not being released in order to protect the victim.
The accused is a member of the OPP East Region, based in Smiths Falls, for four years.
