Lancer men’s volleyball team feels first loss of season
By Christine Hosler
It’s been a season full of ups and downs so far for the Loyalist Lancers’ volleyball and basketball teams.
The men’s volleyball team finished a three-game weekend with two wins, but a tight set of games against Georgian College Sunday resulted in their first loss of the season. The men are now 5-1 for the season. They play their next game on the road against the Seneca Sting who are 6-0.
The Lady Lancers volleyball team is also 5-1 after their long weekend. Their only loss came against Cambrian on Saturday. The women join the men next Wednesday at Seneca, whose women’s team has a 3-3 record.
On the other hand the men’s basketball team hasn’t had a very smooth ride so far. With a new coach, expectations were pretty high, but the team has struggled with player losses and a completely different style of play from last year for returning players.
So far the men are sitting at 2-3, with a tough game against the undefeated Centennial Colts tomorrow night in Toronto.
The ladies also travel to play Centennial tomorrow, although the Centennial women’s team is the exact opposite of the men’s and have yet to win a game so far. The Lady Lancers have a 3-2 record.
