Belleville woman is charged with theft of four vehicles over the course of the month
BELLEVILLE – A Belleville woman faces a number of charges after a string of car thefts from an east end car dealership came to an end Monday evening.
Police say Monday’s events started when the dealership called police to report a stolen car.
Police say they recovered the vehicle and were then able to determine the identify of the suspect.
As they were searching for the 30 year old woman, they received another call from the dealership.
According to police, the dealership was calling to report that the woman had returned and was attempting to rob a man at knifepoint. She the fled the scene in another the stolen vehicle, the second of the day.
Police say they were able to find and arrest the suspect at 6:45 p.m. Monday.
Police say they were then able to connect the woman to two other car thefts from the same dealership, one on Sept. 1 and the other on Sept. 26.
The woman is being charged with four counts of theft of a motor vehicle dating back to the beginning of September amongst other charges. She is set to appear in court on Nov. 5.
