Drug bust leads to several charges
QUINTE WEST – Five people were charged after members of the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the help of the East Region Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant around 6:00 a.m. on Friday.
Four people were arrested at a residence on Dufferin Ave in Quinte West and suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, a prohibited weapon, stolen property and drug paraphernalia was taken from the scene.
The owner was not at home at the time the warrant was served but was arrested and charged later in the day. A 39-year old male, 55-year-old man, 35-year-old woman, 25-year-old man, and a 17-year-old youth were arrested and charged with possession with intent of trafficking of cocaine, possession with intent of trafficking of methamphetamine, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
The 35-year-old woman and 39-year-old man were also charged failing to comply with a release order. The 39-year-old was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
The 55-year-old and 25-year old were released with a court date of December 17. The youth was also released with a December 15 court date. The other two appeared in court for a bail hearing on Friday.
