Three-vehicle crash on Hwy. 7
By Renée Rodgers
A motor vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers and a bus occurred on Hwy. 7 around 4:30 a.m. Nov. 23.
A stretch of Hwy. 7 near Kaladar, about 80 kilometres north-east of Belleville, will be closed until at least late afternoon Nov. 23, said Sgt. Kristin Rae, a communications officer for the Eastern region OPP. She said there is no word yet on injuries.
Sgt. Vic Welton of the Napanee OPP could not confirm whether the freezing rain experienced in the area overnight was a factor in the crash. He reminds everyone that with the upcoming winter weather, driving conditions will be more dangerous.
“The bottom line is it’s the same message every year,” he said. “You have to slow down and drive according to the conditions on the highway. It’s also important to have the proper equipment on your car. It would be helpful to have four snow tires and proper wipers. Also, make sure your car is warmed up and you can see out the windows.”
