Two people face drug trafficking charges in Picton
BELLEVILLE – Two men have been charged with a number of drug trafficking charges after officers conducted a traffic stop on Picton Main Street on Monday.
According to the OPP, officers stopped the vehicle shortly after 1 a.m. Police say the driver was found with a suspended drivers license, a quantity of suspected substances, two cellular phones and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The two 44 year old suspects one from Madoc and the other from Quinte West were charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin) – CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs – CDSA 5(2) – two counts
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
The Quinte West man was also charged with use of plate not authorized for a vehicle and two counts of driving while under suspension.
Both suspects have been released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Nov 24.
