Quinte West woman charged after police find bolt cutters, spray paint
BELLEVILLE – A Quinte West woman who police say had stolen bolt cutters and spray-paint cans was arrested outside a Trenton shopping plaza Tuesday.
At about 1:45 p.m, officers with with the Quinte West OPP saw a woman who appeared to be trying to hide bolt cutters beside a dumpster behind the Trenton Town Centre, just off Dundas Street East, according to an OPP news release. When the officers approached her, they also found new cans of spray paint nearby, the OPP said.
The woman was arrested and following an investigation, the officers determined the items had been stolen from a business nearby, police said.
The 46-year-old woman from Quinte West was charged with
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property valued at less than $5,000
- Impersonation with intent to avoid arrest or prosecution, or obstruct police
- Three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
The woman was held in custody before an appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
