Fundraiser hopes to make a splash at Boston Pizza

The Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre is hoping to make a splash Monday night at Boston Pizza.
Mayor Neil Ellis will be on hand serving customers for the Make-A-Splash fundraiser with 10 per cent of food sales during the three-hour fundraiser going towards the wellness center. The event is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“We did receive funding to build the facility, however, that funding didn’t include equipment or anything. It was just for the bricks and mortar of the building,” said Tanya Grierson, the recreation program supervisor at the wellness center.
The new centre is set to open later this year. Along with the aquatic center there will be two NHL sized rinks, a multi-use gymnasium and youth center.
The $35-million project was approved in 2009.
