Drunk driving on the 401

Northumberland OPP have charged a man after refusing to provide a breath sample and failing to comply.
Police pulled over a ’99 Dodge Durango as it ramped off the 401 at Toronto Road, Port Hope with a suspicion of drunk driving.
Officers found empty beer cans and the driver admitted to drinking earlier in the evening. After three unsuccessful attempts to provide breath sample, the driver refused to continue in the assessment. The driver was then arrested and brought to Cobourg’s OPP detachment for processing, police said
Joseph Theriault, 57, of London, On, was charged with refusing a breath sample and failing to comply with an undertaking, then released on a promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in court March 20 in Cobourg
