Fad or Fundraiser ? Students use Movember to be "cool"
By Matt Kerr
Movember is starting to take its moustached form as more people around Loyalist College begin to grow their facial hair all month.
Although Movember started as a fundraising campaign, it has now become the cool thing to do in November.
Loyalist students are following the movement and after the first week, a discernible mustache is starting to set them apart from everyone else.
“I just do it, everyone else does it. It is for raising money so it makes me feel better about doing it,” said Chad Lindsay
Many students at Loyalist have been growing their moustaches because it is cool rather than looking for donations.
Some students are aware of the initiative to support prostate cancer but have yet to support the Movember website or collect donations.
“I might be raising money but I don’t know what that entails, it is still early in the month so there is plenty of time,” said student Alex Martel.
While students are not fully aware of the initiative, they still think that any program in support of cancer research is a good thing.
“Anything that supports cancer is a good thing in my opinion,” said Constantine Papoutsis
