The new Digital Media Centre opens its doors

Over the summer, Loyalist College’s newsroom went under major renovations. The Digital Media Centre was warmly welcomed by a parking lot packed with people to explore the latest addition to Loyalist College. Welcoming speeches were given by a selection of speakers, including media studies graduate and current President of Loyalist College, Maureen Piercy.
“I am delighted to welcome you to today’s celebration. We are delighted to announce the official opening of the Newsroom… spectacularly designed and which, as you will see later, is an outstanding learning environment for our students. The newsroom will be used by a variety of programs including: Journalism, Photojournalism, Sports Journalism, Television, the Trent-Loyalist Journalism program and Broadcast Engineering Technology. The newsroom will also serve as the main entrance into the Digital Media Centre that houses our newly built high-definition television studio, industry-standard radio facility, our newly launched Graphic Design and Fundraising and Development programs, renewed Advertising and Marketing Communication program, and Public Relations. We’re also here to celebrate the official launch of the Trent-Loyalist journalism program and the redeveloped QNet News site – Loyalist’s award-winning student-produced community online news service. ” – Maureen Piercy, President of Loyalist College
The Digital Media Centre has fantastic new details, including innovative architectural design. The walls are decorated with murals, and the desks are crowded with the latest technology. These photos, taken by Matt Blair, illustrate the Digital Media Centre’s first day.
