Storage unit break-in
BELLEVILLE – A storage unit had two unwanted visitors on Friday.
Belleville Police responded to an intrusion alarm at a storage unit on Herchimer Avenue on Oct. 18 at midnight.
Police report that two males were inside the compound. Officers arrested one of the men while the other jumped the fence and fled on foot. A 21-year-old Trentonian was charged with break and enter with intent to commit theft and was released with a court date of Nov. 7. Early-morning brawl
BELLEVILLE – Two men allegedly tried to settle their differences with a fistfight early this morning.
Police were called to Belleville General Hospital around 2 a.m. to investigate an assault report. The two males involved knew each other, police say. They got into a scuffle after leaving a local business; the victim ended up with serious but non-fatal injuries. A good Samaritan stopped and took the victim to BGH. The alleged assailant returned to the scene later and was arrested by police there. A 22-year-old Belleville man faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm. He was released and ordered to appear in court on Nov. 28.
Unruly man
BELLEVILLE – A Belleville man was arrested for his own protection on Friday afternoon, police say.
The 52-year-old man was arrested on Catherine Street for being unruly. Emergency responders treated him at the scene for minor injuries.
