Kramp calls for Senate scandal wrap-up
By Amanda Lorbetski
BELLEVILLE – Canadians’ confidence in the Senate is falling deeper each day the expense scandal goes unresolved, Prince Edward-Hastings MP Daryl Kramp says.
The scandal surrounding senators claiming false expenses is unnerving his riding’s residents, Kramp said in an interview Monday.
“I’ve actually had a lot of input from a lot of people, and people are definitely disturbed, as (to) what is taking place,” he said.
But he said no one’s more upset than the senators’ colleagues who are taking the backlash.
“When you have malfeasance by few, it tarnishes the whole institution.”
Accountability in the Senate could be a stepping-stone toward restoring public approval, he said.
