Transportation open house today

BELLEVILLE – The city is holding its third and final open house today to seek feedback from residents on Belleville’s latest transportation master plan.
The plan looks at improving conditions for commuting over the next 20 years. The last plan, created in 1990, focused mainly on roads. The new plan looks at ways conditions can be improved not only for vehicular commuters but cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders.
According to the study by the transportation consulting firm Morrison Hershfield Inc., the population of Belleville is predicted to grow 24 per cent by 2031.
The open house is from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. and is being held in the multi-purpose room on the second floor of the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre located at 265 Cannifton Rd.
