Vehicle blaze on Bell Boulevard – with video

BELLEVILLE – Belleville firefighters and police were called to the scene of a car fire Friday night in a parking lot on Bell Boulevard.
At around 6:30 p.m. fire crews were called to a Tim Horton’s parking lot where a vehicle was engulfed in flames. Police joined the call at 6:37 p.m.
Staff Sgt. Al Portt told QNet News that damage to the car – a rental car belonging to someone from out of town – was extensive.
“I’m guessing the car was totally destroyed,” he said.
The driver made the call and the incident was not arson, Portt said.
Academy Towing, which has a contract with Belleville police, moved the vehicle after fire crews extinguished the blaze.
A resident of Stockdale, Wolfgang Hall, caught the fire on video.
“We saw a really bright light in the parking lot on my way home. So we pulled over to take a look,” said Hall.
“I was shocked – like, I’ve never seen anything like this in Belleville,” he said, adding that the fire caught the attention of many people passing by.
The car looked like a Honda, though he couldn’t be sure, he said.
