BELLEVILLE – Details are emerging into the criminal charges against three people accused of robbing students in a nighttime invasion at a Loyalist College residence in November.
Court documents obtained from the Quinte courthouse in Belleville paint a clearer picture into what police and prosecutors believe happened on the night of Thursday, Nov. 21.
Charged with robbing three Loyalist students in their residence apartment are Braedon Couvreur, 18, of Belleville; Evan Sinclair, 18, and Tyson Stevenson, 18, both of Napanee; and Kurtis Lloyd, 22, of Deseronto. A Samsung Galaxy phone and an iPod Touch were stolen, the court documents say.
Police allege that shotguns and a revolver were used by the robbers during the invasion.
Couvreur, Sinclair and Stevenson are charged with using firearms during a robbery and with conspiring to commit the robbery. Stevenson and Sinclair are also charged with breaking and entering.
Sinclair is also charged with possession of cocaine, resisting arrest (the court documents allege that when he was arrested he pulled away, fought and failed to obey commands), and having weapons – three sawed-off shotguns and a sawed-off bolt-action rifle – that he did not have a licence for.
Stevenson was already under a court order – stemming back to August 2013 – not to have a firearm in his possession.
Lloyd, the fourth person charged in the robbery, did not make a court appearance with the other three on Jan. 16, and the courthouse and local crown attorney’s office were unable to provide information regarding his charges.
Det.-Constable Aaron Bucci of the Belleville Police told QNet News that Lloyd has an upcoming court appearance, but declined to provide any further information.
The next court appearances for Couvreur and Stevenson are on Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Quinte courthouse. Sinclair will be appearing by video link at the Quinte courthouse this Thursday.
