Court appearance this week in Loyalist case; what’s happened with security?
BELLEVILLE – Two of the four men arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Loyalist College will make a second appearance at the Quinte Courthouse Thursday.
The two are Braedon Couvreur, 18, of Belleville, and Tyson Stevenson, 18, of Napanee. They, along with Evan Sinclair, 18, of Napanee, and Kurtis Lloyd, 22, of Deseronto, face multiple charges after an incident in November in which intruders came onto campus with firearms, stealing a phone and tablet before disappearing into the woods behind a residence.
Security and police swarmed the school that night, detouring students away from the area and advising people to stay indoors. The next morning, Loyalist College’s president, Maureen Piercy, released a statement saying that the college was making adjustments to its security arrangements for the coming days.
The question is, are those security changes still in effect? QNet News is reaching out to Loyalist administration and the Comissionaires security company, which is contracted to provide security on campus, to find out what details we can about current and future precautions.
