Belleville drop-in centre helps build friendships
BELLEVILLE – When you walk into Nightlight, the room is filled with laughter, music and friendly faces. You would never guess that the people in this drop-in centre are facing poverty and troubles like alcoholism.
Nightlight, at 228 Front St. downtown, opened this past January. The drop-in centre is open three nights a week from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Volunteers greet you with a smile and a conversation.
QNetNews spent one recent evening at Nightlight, talking to its clients and the volunteers who work there. Many of the visitors spoke of how the centre has made their lives better and helped them form friendships.
