Campaign for Loyalist College receives a $100,000 cheque from TD Bank
BELLEVILLE – With its $100,000 cheque donated Tuesday, TD Bank is helping to expand Loyalist College, buy new equipment and help students in financial need.
The Campaign for Loyalist College’s goal is to raise $6 million: $5 million to complete and equip the Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre programs at Loyalist, and $1 million to support students in financial need with endowments and awards.
President and CEO Maureen Piercy thanked TD Bank group for making an investment into student success.
Loyalist Governor Natalie BoHnen-Twiddy said this money gives Loyalist an opportunity to move forward.
“We are always looking for a chance to expand” she said. “This money will help us become more competitive (with other schools) and help us offer things other schools can’t.”
Golda Lafferty along other members from TD Bank handed the $100,000 cheque to President Piercy.
“We hope to inspire students and motivate students into success” said Lafferty.
Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Wilfrid J. Wilkinson said this donation will enable Loyalist to keep up to date with advances in equipment.
“The equipment we have is just first class, but things move so fast. We need the state of the art kind of equipment and this cheque will help get to that” said Wilkinson.
