Loyalist gets invited to watch the Bulls
BELLEVILLE – The Belleville Bulls are inviting Loyalist College students and faculty to attend their game against the Oshawa Generals Saturday.
The game begins at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Yardmen Arena at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Andrew Kerik, director of business for the Bulls, says this is an annual event and tickets are sold at a discounted price of $10 for students and staff.
The game ticket also includes transportation on the team bus from Loyalist to the arena and back, Kerik said. The transportation is a new program that is run through the residence at the college, he said.
This particular game night is organized by the Bulls and Loyalist students who are in the Sports and Entertainment Sales and Marketing program, as well as Fitness and Health and Recreation and Leisure students.
“This is one part of a great partnership between the Bulls and Loyalist,” Kerik said. “Each year we take on intern students and provide as many job shadows as possible, but this game allows us to expose so many interested students to the many roles that go into operating a sports team and an entertainment event.”
Students gain experience in marketing, selling tickets and promoting the night through social media, he said.
Shane Brady, a student representative for the Sports and Entertainment Sales and Marketing program, says students can e-mail either him or Sarah Berger-Hubble, another student in the program, to get tickets.
The Bulls night is a good way for students to get out and do something fun and interactive, Brady said.
“It gets more Loyalist faces out into the community.”
Kerik noted that many of the staff of the Bulls and the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre are Loyalist graduates.
“It’s important for us to give back and allow students the opportunity to learn and gain experience,” he said.
The Loyalist-Bulls night will also include crowd interaction segments, intermission games, and tattoos for kids.
