Weekend hunting accident leads to death

BELLEVILLE – Killaloe OPP and the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) are continuing their investigation into a fatal hunting accident north of Bancroft this weekend.
At around 3 p.m. on Saturday police responded to a hunting accident that happened on Elwoods Road in Palmer Rapids. A 37 year old Ameliasburgh man is dead.
Few other details are available at this time.
Following the death the OPP released a statement imploring the public to follow safe hunting practices, which include:
- Always wearing hunter orange to ensure visibility
- Pack essential survival goods such as water, food, matches, first aid kit, maps and a compass
- Hunting at night for big game is not allowed and is very dangerous
- Do not mix hunting with alcohol or drug use; hunting with a clear mind is paramount
