Brock tops Quinte for spot in COSSA championship game
BELLEVILLE – Brock High School has advanced to the COSSA basketball championship game after defeating Quinte Christian School 34-23.
The game started slowly with the first six minutes being scoreless, and the first-quarter ending 5-3.
In the second, Brock began hitting their shots more efficiently while Quinte continued to struggle.
By halftime Brock led 19-8 and was able to hold an 11 point difference until the end of the game.
Perimeter shooting was the difference maker for Brock in this game, as Quinte failed to keep up with Brock’s shooting.
Carl Perdue, head coach of Brock High School’s senior girls basketball team, said the Quinte defence caused some issues for them.
“We started a little bit slow but the girls started to hit their shots. For Quinte, they surprised me with their defence, they are a really tall team and tight with their defence so we couldn’t penetrate like we usually do,” he said.
After this victory, Brock will go on to face the winner of the second semi-final game, which is in progress as St. Paul is hosting Lindsay’s St. Thomas Aquinas.
The winners of the two semi-finals will play in the COSSA Senior single-A girls championship at St. Paul Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
