Prince Edward County winemakers to announce Wassail king and queen
BELLEVILLE – Prince Edward County winemakers will crown the king and queen of their annual Wassail celebration this weekend.
The crowning takes place Sunday at Sugarbush Vineyards. It is a prelude to Wassail, which takes place the weekends of Nov. 23 and 23, Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 6 and 7, and is organized by the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association.
Wassail is the traditional celebration of the harvest before the arrival of winter. The celebration consists of people travelling from house to house singing, eating and drinking wine.
On the Wassail weekends, participants can visit County wineries, where there will be food and wine tastings.
